The artistic research project The Music of Language and Language of Music explores the relationship between music and speech, in particular improvised music and everyday conversation. A digital musical instrument has been developed for “orchestrating” musical features of speech into music in real time. This has evolved into a personal electroacoustic performance concept dubbed The Orchestra of Speech, where musical features of speech have been investigated and explored as sources for creating improvised music.

Topics include music and language, prosody, speech genres, improvisation, performance, speech analysis, signal processing, machine learning, instrument development, interface design, sound, perception, semiotics, and form and meaning.
